COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association recognizes the importance of being a partner with our local community – serving those who are less fortunate or those with special needs. In both cases, the Bar Association desires to be part of the “solution.”
To that end, the Bar Membership is going to be involved with the following events for the 2025 calendar year:
April 2025 at 6:00 PM (Date TBD)
At this Annual bar sponsored event, local high school students will present a speech. A panel of five Judges from the Los Angeles Superior Court will score the competition. The top three students will receive cash scholarships.
If you would like to become a sponsor of this event, please contact Sarah at 661-505-8670 or info@scvbar.org. Sponsorship opportunities can be viewed here.
Jan.- May, Aug. – Nov. (last Thursday of each month)
In operation for over 20 years, Teen Court is a diversion-based program for local youths (junior high thru high school) who have committed low level criminal offenses. The program is designed to allow the offending minor a “second chance” via a probation period involving community service, and other relevant obligations. If the minor successfully completes the program, his/her case is dismissed! The minors in the program are screened by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department. Bar members who participate are encouraged to engage the members of the minor’s “jury” in a meaningful discussion in deciding the appropriate penalties for each case heard by the Teen Court. Each session runs approximately two hours (3:15pm – 5:15pm) and is held on the last Thursday of each month. We encourage all Bar members to volunteer their time for a worthy cause.
November 2025
At this time of the year, many local charitable groups have difficulty providing toys and new clothing items to the young boys and girls of the Santa Clarita Valley. To help offset the shortages the groups often face, the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association is hosting a toy drive and will distribute these items to the Santa Clarita Valley Service Center.
New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the following locations:
- Reape-Rickett Law Firm (25152 Springfield Court, Suite 100)
- Carter Law Firm (27240 Turnberry Lane, Suite 200)
- At the SCVBA Awards & Installation Gala in December
We have put together an Amazon Wish List to make the donation process even more simple for you!
