SUMMARY:Friends & Family Day at USS Iowa
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the USS Iowa for a private special guided tour! \nI hope you can make time to join us for Family & Friends Day aboard the famous museum battleship\, U.S.S. Iowa (BB61)!  The Iowa is berthed along the San Pedro Waterfront (next to the cruise ship berthing spaces). \nDuring your visit to the historical ship\, you will be taken on a private guided tour of the various decks\, including the Captain’s Cabin\, the conning/navigation bridge\, the engineering spaces along “Broadway”\, the officer’s and enlisted sailor’s berthing & mess areas\, and of course\, up front and personal with the ship’s main armament\, the massive 16″ guns! \nYours truly has been a volunteer tour guide over the last ten years\, and I promise that it will be an amazing experience to walk along the decks shared by thousands of sailors who have served aboard the Iowa (she was commissioned during World War II and served through the Cold War).  Now permanently berthed in San Pedro\, the Iowa serves as a tribute to all those veterans who have served and those currently on active duty. \nI hope you will consider joining us for this unique opportunity\, and you are encouraged to bring your family (children\, too) and friends!  Our group is offered a discounted admission of $20 per person (children 3-11\, $15)\, including the private tours.  The tours will last approximately 2 1/2 hours (restrooms are located aboard the Iowa).  For anyone who may need assistance\, an elevator is available between several decks.  After your tour\, you are welcomed to relax on the fantail with a cool breeze\, great food and drink from Vicky’s Doghouse (on board the ship) and enjoy wonderful views of the Port of Los Angeles. \nIf you can make it\, please RSVP at your soonest convenience\, as this will enable us to have the proper number of tour guides available.  Thank you and I hope to see you aboard! \nSincerely\, \nJeff Armendariz \nPresident\, SCV Bar Association
